‘Pipers for Piers & Buskers for Bollards’ event on Saturday 16th October 2021 raised £1614.20 for the Inveraray Pier Fund. Big thanks to all those who took part. Pipers, singers, musicians young and old, and to the ‘bucket shakers’ all around the town. Thanks also to Semples for their generous donation.
Thanks to Donald (DA MacDonald Contractors Ltd), Al, Robert, Paul, Alan, Andy, Anthony, Tony and Stevie for all the work over the weekend tidying up pier, it really is appreciated. It looks great, what a difference teamwork can make. It was nice and tidy for the Pipers for Piers and Buskers for Bollards event.
Quotation from the day:
As one of our ways to give back we have been volunteering alongside locals in the refurbishment of Inveraray Pier for Inveraray Community Council. The initial steps have involved weeding and clearing debris from the stone section of the pier. Here are some before and after photos from last week’s work.”
Thank you to all the buskers that came out on Saturday for us to raise funds for the pier fund. When Robin first came to me with the idea I wondered if we could pull it off, well we did! From the start with Stuart Liddell on the pipes at the pier I knew we were in for a good day, only Inveraray could have a world champion Piper busking for us.
Stuart was then joined by the Kilmartin 3, Rod, Nick and Jojo.
The singers then started at the Tipsy Laird, Robin Campbell and Joe Quinn before moving to the cross green. Craig MacIntyre came onboard then and the singing continued. Local talent kept it going, Aby Cuthbert, what a talent right on our doorstep. Jackie Kerr joined Craig, more local talent. Feorlin Renton a joy, young Katy MacLeod on her clarinet a wee star. A couple of tunes from some of Dr.Hip. to finish off Joe Quinn. Great day! Jamming session in the George Hotel beer garden in the evening. Thank you to everyone who donated on the day, and to gofund me it really is appreciated. Thank you to my fellow CC members for going above and beyond in their support for me and to Colin Cameron editor of the Argyllshire Advertiser for covering the event.
