Welcome

Linda welcomed all to the meeting.  Thanks were offered to the Loch Fyne and Robin Campbell.

Presentation by Caitlyn Quinn – SSEN Community Liaison Manager

Caitlyn provided an overview of SSEN’s 5 current projects, 2 are awaiting the outcome of decisions from the Scottish Government.

They have 5 substation projects in the pipeline, 2 are in construction and 3 are waiting consents (commencement expected to be from September onwards).

SSEN are hoping to arrange Community Liaison Meetings with stakeholders, Community Councils etc where they can provide updates on current and planned projects.  The frequency of these will be agreed with interested parties.  SSEN would be happy to receive suggestions of local groups/projects that would benefit from their expertise.  Construction on the Creag Dhubh substation will continue through to 2026 so they are keen to engage with students and people who may be interested in a career with SSEN.

SSEN are in the early stages of setting up a Community Benefit Fund, hopefully funds will start to be released in early 2025.  Community groups can access funding with importance based on projects that show sustainability benefits and have legacy.  Additional equipment at the swing park might be a suitable project.
